This year will be a little different, we're headed to Butcher & Singer for a swanky steak dinner with a small group of friends. New Years always gets me feeling a little sentimental... another year has gone by, lots of memories made, and new goals and dreams are set for the future. But, before I get into my new goals post (which will come later this week) I thought I would run through some highlights of 2013.
- January 9, 2013: Our wedding photos arrive! We got married in September 2012 and it was pure torture to wait for our wedding photos. We were totally blown away by the photos and moments captured by Bailly Photography and would recommend them to anyone that's in need of a super fun and unbelievably talented photographer.
- January 18, 2013: I hit my one year anniversary of doing CrossFit. My first year was tough, but so rewarding. My second year has been just as challenging but even better than the first. I love the progress my body, mind, and muscles have made!
- February 2, 2013: BryGuy and I competed in our first CrossFit competition together. It was really fun to have him has my teammate and we didn't do half bad!
- March 2013: We finally got back to Puerto Rico! We usually take an annual trip to PR in March to visit with Bry's family and get a little R&R but in 2012 we had to forgo the trip because we were saving for our wedding and honeymoon. It was so nice to get back there in March in 2013 and I can't wait to go in 2014!
- March 18, 2013: Job change! I started a new job for a bigger organization in March and it was such a great career move. I'm so satisfied about where I work now and it's put me in such a better mental place. Plus I always follow this motto, "Work is just the thing that allows me the resources to do the things in life that I really enjoy."
- March 29, 2013: I had a breakdown at the gym... but that's not the highlight! The highlight was seeing how my husband and friends supported and encouraged me during my time of frustration and defeat.
- April 2013: We took a trip to Boston to visit our group of friends and had an epic night at Strega Waterfront. Like thousand-dollar-bar-tab epic and some serious hangovers... but it was awesome. So awesome in fact, that we booked tickets (while inebriated) to fly back to Boston in May for Greek Easter...
- June 2013: We headed up to the Adirondacks to visit my parents who had rented a beautiful lake house so they could enjoy some time in their newly purchased boat.
- June 2013: Girls trip to Atlantic City, it was a wild one but I'm sworn to secrecy on the the details of that trip.
- July/August 2013: Trips to Cape May (photos here and here) ! Cape May is quickly becoming one of my most favorite vacation spots. It's the place I want to take my kids every summer for vacation. It's the place that makes me want to be a beach bum, surfer girl for the rest of my life. It's magical. Also we tried stand up paddle boarding while we were there this year, which was on our bucket list!
- August 2013: My best buddy visits from Egypt!
- September 1&2, 2013: Another fun year at the Made in America Festival despite the stickiness.
- September 8, 2013: B and I celebrate our first anniversary together. One year down, 50+ to go...
- October 2013: Marissa says... blog turns 1! It's hard to believe I've been blabbing on here for over a year now, but it's true.
- November 22, 2013: My father-in-law gets inducted in to the Delaware State University Hall of Fame.
- November 2013: Lots of quality time with my family and friends for Thanksgiving (Friendsgiving photos here and family photos here.)
- December 2013: A fabulous girls trip to the Finger Lake wineries!
- December 23, 2013: My girlfriends and I planned our own mini high school reunion of sorts! I can't believe we've been friends for 10+ years and we all live apart but when we're together, it's like nothing has changed.
The year was filled with so many new friends, epic gym parties, barbecues and tailgating, happy moments, laughter and love.
Thank you to all my friends and family that made 2013 so memorable. Here's to 2014!
