Can you tell me something that's better than hanging on the beach with your friends all day? I bet you can't. Because no such thing exists. This past weekend we packed up the car and heading up to Rockaway, Queens because our friends recently moved into a fabulous townhouse that's just a block from the beach!
I have a thing about bridges. We were stuck in a little traffic so this photo of the Verrazano is not as dangerous as it seems.
When we arrived we said our hellos, packed up the coolers and headed straight to the beach. The weather was perfect, so we spent the day boogie boarding, playing ladder toss, and soaking up the sun.
Check out this beach babe.
My favorite time of day on the beach is the 5 - 6 p.m. hour. The lighting is so amazing and the beach is usually empty. If the weather is perfect, you put on a light sweatshirt and just take it all in.
After the beach we packed up and headed home for some dinner. In the evening, we ventured over to a bar called Connolly's. If you're ever in Rockaway during the summer (apparently it's only open Memorial Day to Labor Day) you have to make it a point to visit Connolly's. Think Irish Pub, meets beach bar, meets dance party, plus very relaxed bouncers = total debauchery. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seem some photo evidence of our evening at Connolly's.
On Sunday, after lots of ibuprofen, water and coffee we headed back to the beach for a little nap in the sun. They have a great little pizza stand on the beach where they make the pizza right before your eyes. It was perfection.
And this is what the car looked like as we drove back to Philly. Knocked out cold.
What an AWESOME WEEKEND.

Thanks Bran! We had a great time and we're definitely coming back to experience Connolly's again next summer.
