A needed face lift

Notice anything new around here?!? Anything look a little younger, fresher, or tighter to you? 

Um hello. It's the blog! 

I've been investing a little extra time in sprucing Marissa Says... up a bit and I hope you like the new clean look. As I mentioned a few weeks back I'm really feigning for a nice new camera. With that in mind, I'm starting to move the design of the blog in a direction that focuses more on photos. Is this the direction I should be going? You tell me. You're the people I do this for in the first place!

 

Photos above show Marissa Says... on launch day compared to what it looks like now. And it's only been seven months since I launched. Imagine what it will look like after a couple of years, it will be super snazzy then. 

This is just one of the many areas that I'm making some major improvements on. For some reason this month, I've had all of this crazy energy that I've been putting into the blog and my house. BryGuy can attest to this. I've been nonstop with laundry and cleaning the kitchen and fixing up things that we've been sitting on for the winter months since we moved. 

I think I can safely say that the weather is a serious factor in this new-found energy. I find waking up in the morning a little bit easier (hell, we all know I'm never going to be a morning person) and when I get home from work I don't want to be a couch potato like I used to. So I'm pretty sure that this scientifically proves that I have SAD. That's Seasonal Affective Disorder and not an STD, thank you very much. 

Also, I have a problem. I'm neurotic about cleaning when I'm having company. Like I don't give a crappola what the house looks like when it's just the husband and I. But if I find out someone is stopping by or staying with us for a night, I'm cleaning/organizing/DIYing non-stop until they get there. 

Since we've had quite a few visitors recently and more planned for the coming month, I've been a cleaning machine. On the plus side, it means that the guest room is nice and cozy, my dressing room is near completion, and the backyard is looking mighty fine! 

We spent some of Memorial Day Weekend prepping the house for this weekend's party, but unfortunately, we had a bit too much fun with our friends and didn't get as much done as we should have. Which means I have a really detailed day-by-day to-do list of things we've got to do between now and Saturday (BryGuy is a huge fan of the list, as you can imagine). Once the chores are done or the first guest arrives, whichever comes first, I plan to drink tequila until I can no longer feel my face. Cheers!
